Bitcoin Price Today: Market Holds Firm Despite New Risks
Bitcoin Price Today Holds Above $63K as Investors Weigh Security Risks and Institutional Demand
Bitcoin price today remained above the $63,000 level as traders evaluated a mix of positive and negative developments across the cryptocurrency market. While institutional demand continued to provide support, new losses linked to vulnerable Coldcard wallets and additional Bitcoin sales by Trump Media created fresh uncertainty for investors.

Bitcoin Stays Above $63,000 Despite Security Concerns
Bitcoin traded near $63,526, posting a modest daily gain of approximately 1.4%. The world’s largest cryptocurrency continued to recover after recent volatility, although investor sentiment remained cautious.
Market participants closely monitored a growing security incident involving older Coldcard hardware wallets. According to blockchain researchers, total losses have now exceeded 1,367 BTC, representing nearly $89 million at current market prices.
Three separate waves of transactions drained funds from thousands of wallet addresses. Analysts noted that the latest transfers appeared to target smaller balances while using a different collection strategy, suggesting either a change in tactics by the original attacker or the involvement of another actor exploiting the same weakness.
Coldcard Firmware Vulnerability Raises Long-Term Questions
Researchers traced the security issue to a firmware update released in March 2021.
Instead of relying entirely on the device’s hardware random number generator, the affected firmware generated wallet seed phrases using a predictable method. This flaw potentially allows attackers to recreate private keys offline without ever touching the physical wallet.
Although newer firmware versions are not affected, the incident has renewed discussions about hardware wallet security and proper firmware management among cryptocurrency holders.
Trump Media Continues Selling Bitcoin Holdings
Corporate activity also attracted significant attention.
Trump Media & Technology Group reportedly sold another 2,628 BTC, worth roughly $165 million, according to blockchain monitoring services.
The company has now reduced its original Bitcoin position substantially after initially acquiring more than 11,500 BTC.
Approximately 4,260 BTC remain pledged as collateral for convertible notes scheduled to mature no later than May 2028.
Analysts estimate the company’s realized and unrealized Bitcoin-related losses now total roughly $555 million.
Institutional Investors Continue Supporting Bitcoin
Despite corporate selling, institutional participation continues to strengthen.
Spot Bitcoin ETFs recently attracted more than $220 million in fresh inflows after experiencing weeks of withdrawals.
Meanwhile, institutional investors, exchange-traded funds, and government entities continue increasing their presence in the Bitcoin ecosystem.
This broader adoption may provide stronger long-term support, even as short-term market sentiment remains influenced by security incidents and corporate portfolio adjustments.
Ethereum and Major Altcoins Move Higher
Most leading cryptocurrencies recorded modest gains during the weekend session.
Ethereum Price
Ethereum climbed roughly 2%, trading around $1,883.
XRP Performance
XRP advanced just over 2%, continuing its recent recovery.
Cardano and Solana
Cardano posted one of the strongest performances among major cryptocurrencies with gains exceeding 7%, while Solana added approximately 2.7%.
Dogecoin
Dogecoin also traded higher, rising around 2.2% during the day.
Outlook for Bitcoin
Although hardware wallet vulnerabilities have created new concerns, institutional demand remains one of the strongest long-term drivers supporting Bitcoin.
Investors will continue watching ETF flows, corporate treasury decisions, and broader macroeconomic conditions to determine whether Bitcoin can extend its recovery above current price levels.
